The yacht is annually inspected and registered by the South African Maritime Safety Authority as a category B Commercial charter vessel for the entire South African coastline. As such it is licensed to carry 10 passengers and 2 crew.
Sweet Waters is also is licensed as a category A international sailing vessel with SA Sailing for any non commercial voyages.
All electronic Navigation equipment is commercial grade (Furuno) and is backed up by traditional manual equipment like sextants, compasses, chronograph, barograph, binoculars, telescope, clock work anemometer, trailing log and even a traditional lead line for soundings.
Sweet Waters is fitted with an Automatic Information System (AIS) transponder, which means that it can be seen and tracked by all commercial shipping and land based Vessel tracking Systems (VTS). This means that you could track her on the Marine Traffic website . In addition she is equipped with an INMARSAT satelite phone, on board dedicated as well as mobile navigation computers with extensive chart, tide, celestial navigation, pilotage, medical first aid and safety data. `there is even an emergency set which is fully transportable waterproof carry case which is solar powered for use in life rafts.
In addition it utilises the International Safe Tracks (Safetrx) system adopted by the National Sea Rescue Institute of South Africa (NSRI) This means that the vessel is also tracked by the local Sea Rescue institute and any delays in ETA are immediately responded to by the Marine Rescue Coordination Centre of South Africa (MRCC) as well as our ships agent.
